While patients commit to an incredible amount of work and show great progress while they are in treatment, we recognize that his is just the beginning of a life long journey.
Los Angeles is surprisingly one of the most amazing places to find a life of sobriety. The “stigma” associated with addiction and mental health has been greatly reduced throughout the Southern California area.
One can find an abundance of great 12 step meetings (AA,NA, Coda, SLAA, Alanon, ACOA), meditation groups (Dharma punks), Smart Recovery, Rational Recovery, Course in Miracles Support Groups as well as a vast array of mental health support groups (bipolar, depression, anxiety, TBI and Asperger’s) to implement into the treatment and aftercare plan for individuals and families.
Approximately 70 percent of our patients transition into one of our recommended sober living homes in the area who operate with integrity and provide excellent case management services.
While in sober living our patients continue their care through attending intensive outpatient treatment 1-5 days per week at Milestones Ranch Malibu so the client can continue to work on changing lifelong patterns and sustaining new healthier habits which they have learned in residential programming.
Milestones Ranch Malibu also offers “FREE SUNDAY DAY TREATMENT” for life to support these new found skills in recovery! Free Sunday Day Treatment was incorporated into our program because we realize that great treatment comes with many expenses and we did not want finances to deter patients from continuing their care. We have an aftercare group that is specifically catered to our patients adjusting to life outside of residential treatment and we discuss issues and triggers that come up along the way.
Through this we can offer accountability (through UA monitoring), support, guidance and a sense of “family” and community that is a life long commitment to our clients. We recognize that healing does not come in a nice and neat package and that change is hard. We want to be here for our client’s for the long run!
Before and during the process of transitioning out of Milestones Ranch Malibu, our alumni coordinator as well as primary therapists are able to aid in making this process as smooth as possible. It is important to us to keep our milieu small so we can continue to provide individualized aftercare and thoroughly help our patients in the transitioning process.
Throughout the past year we have been able to help patients on a 1:1 basis apply for SSDI, study for GED exams, go to DMV for their drivers license, find employment, apply for insurance and go back to college (apply, tours, sign up for classes, meet with special services, study for tests once enrolled)! These may seem like simple tasks to some, but they can be very overwhelming to those who have not done this in awhile, or ever for that matter. We help them with the anxiety and triggers of going through this process by making sure we are right there with them to help them in the process of reintegration into the community. We start where the client is!
One of our main goals throughout residential treatment and after is to help patients find their path to sustainable well-being and create “purpose and meaning”, so life doesn’t have to be about drugs and alcohol.
We strive to show patients that life can still be full of fun and joy in recovery! Another Free support are our “Sober Fun Parties” which is great exposure therapy for our clients. ( Please view are some attached photos of these events and read Sober Fun Section)
Last but not least, we understand that life is full of obstacles and challenges and because of this understanding we additionally offer A FREE ONE WEEK TUNE -UP which is available to all Milestone’s Ranch Malibu Alumni who successfully graduate our program- judgement free!
It is my mission as alumni coordinator to make sure that both myself and the team of 35 excellent care givers have done all we can to assure that patients will not be alone in their journey after Milestone’s Ranch Malibu and always have a place to come for support and open-minds if a problem should occur along their recovery journey!
